UPDATES – Parade Float & Participant Info

Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Dec. 1
Hello and welcome to all 2018 Santa Parade Participants!
Being just hours away, I wanted to provide you with the information you will need for the preparation of the parade. As in previous years, the marshalling area will be on Martin Street.
The large parking lot on the 400 block of Martin Street will be available for last minute adjustments or you may go directly to your spot.
Below you will find information for the event as well as the listing of all participants. We all are looking forward to seeing you Saturday and the good news is that the weather is not calling for rain!
See you all on Saturday!

Important Details and Line Up Order
2018 Santa Parade Details and Line Up
Thank you for participating in the parade. It is always a lot of fun and we are thrilled you’ll be joining us. While we look forward to a fabulous and festive evening there are some important items to pass along to keep things in organized and moving along. Please be familiar with and adhere to the following:
  • DPA Staff & volunteers will be wearing safety green/yellow hats and/or t-shirts. Check in starts at 3PM – all participants must check in upon arrival on Martin Street. Should you need assistance, please let one of us know.
  • Please ensure everyone in your group knows your parade placement in advance. Orange cones with placement numbers will be on the east sidewalk along Martin Street. There is a large parking lot on Martin that you can use for last minute adjustments or just pull into your spot.
  • Cut off time – 3:45pm. All parade floats/groups must: 1) arrive to Martin Street, 2) check in with DPA staff and 3) be in place ready to roll no later than 3:45 pm. To ensure parade organizers can verify all attendees and logistics to start the parade at 4pm sharp, we cannot reasonably accommodate late arrivals, so please arrive early to allow your group plenty of time for set up.
  • If your parade group has children, please ensure there are sufficient adults escorting them along the route to keep them together, visible to parade vehicles, and safe as they proceed along the way to Lakeshore Dr.
  • At Lakeshore Drive your parade group/float MUST turn right or left and continue along until completely clear of Lakeshore Drive, otherwise all the parade groups behind you will back up on Main Street. The Lakeside Resort area is not accessible to parade groups due to functions happening in the facility that evening, so please keep moving.
  • REMINDER: PLEASE DO NOT THROW CANDY OR ANY OTHER ITEMS TO THE CROWDS, ESPECIALLY FROM YOUR VEHICLES. CANDY AND OR OTHER ITEMS CAN ONLY BE HANDED OUT ALONG THE SIDEWALKS BY PEOPLE WALKING. THIS IS A CITY BYLAW DUE TO SAFETY. CHILDREN WILL RUN ONTO PARADE ROUTE IF THEY SEE CANDY OR ANY OTHER ITEMS BEING THROWN FROM VEHICLES OR INTO THE STREET.

The City of Penticton has authorized FREE street parking (including stalls with parking meters) downtown each Saturday in December (Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29).
Conveniently, tomorrow’s parade is one of the five Saturdays, so holiday shoppers and parade spectators will find parking to be widely accessible throughout the downtown area even while Main Street closes for the parade.

In case of emergency
Emergency contact for the parade is Lynn Allin – executive director, Downtown Penticton Association & parade organizer. Phone or text: 250-328-5959.
