Downtown Community Market/Special Event Helpers
Starting immediately the Downtown Penticton Association (DPA) is seeking two part-time helpers to work Saturdays from 6:00am – 3:00pm at the Downtown Community Market, and starting August 1st, one part-time helper to assist with market and event preparation each Friday from 9:00am-1:00pm and Saturdays from 6:00am – 3:00pm.

Wage: $14/hr

Duties of helpers include:

  • Assist the market manager and senior DPA staff with facilitating set up and take down of weekly Community Market and special events as needed
  • Assist with keeping the community market food court tidy, including refreshing waste receptacles
  • Post and/or remove various market signage as required each week and deliver DPA materials to members/businesses as needed
  • Monitor market barricades, marshalling market vendors through as appropriate
  • Demonstrate initiative and perform assigned duties diligently with minimal supervisory input
  • Observe and report challenges/issues to market manager and/or senior DPA staff for swift action and resolution
  • Maintain positive attitude and provide exceptional customer service to market customers and vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Other requirements:

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to follow directions yet adapt to shifting priorities
  • Reliable transportation to ensure arrival at Downtown Penticton Association offices by 6:00 am on weekends for market/special event set up
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and understanding of the English language in verbal and written form
