Fundraising for Canada Day Fireworks Kicks Off
Penticton Lakeside Resort and DPA Partnering to Bring Fireworks Show
Penticton, BC – Canada Day 2018 will be a blast this year, complete with fireworks over Okanagan Lake – at least that’s the goal.
Together, the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Downtown Penticton Association will be raising funds to pay for the fireworks show that will delight people of all ages, and close the annual Canada Day festivities on Sunday, July 1.
“Fireworks are a much-loved Canada Day tradition in Penticton” said Lynn Allin, executive director of the DPA. “We feel very fortunate to be partnering with Penticton Lakeside Resort. David and his staff are truly committed to ensuring our community has a wonderful fireworks grand finale.”
To cover the fireworks costs the team will need to raise $25,000, and they’re off to a good start.
“Penticton businesses are very generous when it comes to showing community spirit,” said David Prystay, of the Penticton Lakeside Resort, referring to corporate pledges that have already been made. “We have a long way to go to reach the overall $25K goal, but Lynn Allin and I are confident we’ll get there given our deep connections throughout the city,” he said.
According to Allin, “Canada Day is one of the most highly anticipated and well-attended events held downtown each year.” She’s positive that the donations will come through to ensure the day – fireworks and all – will be a success.
