The Penticton Buskers Program is managed by the Downtown Penticton Association in partnership with The City of Penticton. “Busking” is the practise of performing in public places for tips and gratuities. People engaging in this practice are called “buskers” or “street performers”
The Penticton Buskers Program is a year-round program that welcomes and encourages local and touring, professional and amateur, buskers to perform in art form. Buskers may do anything that will entertain people such as mime, physical comedy, juggling, puppetry, playing an instrument or singing.
The program runs year-round from 10:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week and features a variety of designated “Busk Stop” locations in the heart of Penticton’s downtown core.
Buskers are not paid performers, so they are permitted to encourage donations, that may be received in receptacles such as an open musical instrument case, box or hat.
To participate, buskers undergo an audition with The Downtown Penticton Association. Once approved, they receive a permit to perform in one of six designated “Busk Stops” which they rotate through on a regular basis.
Download the application form to find out how you can participate. All applications must be dropped off at the Downtown Penticton Associations’ office located at 206 – 212 Main Street, Penticton.
